Dummies for bikes

Flossie is a robot created by Castrol to test bikes and it can learn to ride the bike. Gear shift patterns, clutch feel and throttle feel.

New Honda VFR.

Honda would be launching the new VFR some time soon. The official honda website speaks about how the engine has a very compact layout and the unicam technology. The firing order is even which has made it compact. The V angle is 28 degrees. The bike features the revolutionary dual clutch transmission for bikes. Honda has made it smaller and compact. This technology has been in use for cars since a long time, now it is bikes, too. After ABS, we have dual clutch transmission :) And does this one have a shaft drive?

Lower time to shift gears would mean higher acceleration, seamless gear shifts. Also lesser losses, meaning more efficiency. Also, as seen in the video, in auto mode, the jerks, associated with gear shifts are gone. Wow! Visordown also has some pics which could be the bike. Official honda website for the VFR.

Here is a video of the dual clutch in action

Carburettor cleaning guide

If you have a bike, it surely has a carburettor, and in this age, it would most likely be the CV (constant velocity) type. So if you want to clean it, here we go :

Do following procedure in cold condition of engine. In any case keep fire fighting equipment nearby.

Turn the fuel cock in off position. Remove the screws holding the choke cable and the throttle cable. Remove these cables. If you are feeling that the area is still congested, remove your seat, remove the bolt that holds down the fuel tank. Now the fuel tank cover can be rotated about the front, rotate it up by some distance, dont force it. Remove electrical connector connected to the carb. Drain the float chamber. Remove the fuel inlet hose, float chamber drain hose, air bleed hose.To remove the carburretor from the motorcycle, unscrew the screw holding the air duct coming from the air filter, unscrew the screw holding the carb onto the intake duct/manifold of the engine.

You are now ready to remove the carb. After removing it, clean using high pressure air after cleaning all the elements in a solvent like turpentine/thinner.

Here is a presentation containing the inners of the carb.
