New Honda VFR.

Honda would be launching the new VFR some time soon. The official honda website speaks about how the engine has a very compact layout and the unicam technology. The firing order is even which has made it compact. The V angle is 28 degrees. The bike features the revolutionary dual clutch transmission for bikes. Honda has made it smaller and compact. This technology has been in use for cars since a long time, now it is bikes, too. After ABS, we have dual clutch transmission :) And does this one have a shaft drive?

Lower time to shift gears would mean higher acceleration, seamless gear shifts. Also lesser losses, meaning more efficiency. Also, as seen in the video, in auto mode, the jerks, associated with gear shifts are gone. Wow! Visordown also has some pics which could be the bike. Official honda website for the VFR.

Harley riding into India

with news around da corner that harley davidson is entering the indian market, fans of the thudders would be rejoicing. Initial packages would be CBUs and cost would be 700k and above say the news from all over. Its been a while since HD was trying to cave in a path into the Indian market. Initial dealers are expected only in the hot metros. Thanks to Indian tax rules for imports the cost of these CBUs is going to be almost twice of that in the US. Sales are expected to start in 2010. As of today the Harley Davidson group comprises of HD motorcycles, Buell, MV Augusta and HD financil services. HD would be having a subsidiary located in Gurgaon in India, some sites suggest that it has one.

Over in the US one Harley dealer has started a cash for clunker program. Market shifts are being seen in the world, China is the biggest market for 2 wheelers, followed by India. From the west to the east, the wheel of fortune as they say.

turbo diesel bike

There is news that the yams are working on a turbocharged intercooled diesel bike which might have the turbo located close to the head. OOopsie and what about the turbo lag? Well if that can be overcome then we shall have the grunt of old CI engines or V engines in inline engines too.

dutch manufacturer E.V.A. already has a production bike in place with an intercooled turbo diesel engine, having cvt. And German bike maker Neander bikes makes cruisers out of turbo diesels and their claims for vibe free ride seem tempting.

Porsche motorcycle

Not now, but about 40 years back Porsche had thought of entering the 2 wheelers business. Their concept looks radical. More of it here. Its more focussed on driver safety and comfort than power and speed.

We would still be happy if they came up with a concept now.
